By the third week of June the lavender around Grignan and Nyons is being cut, and the heat sits on the hills until about seven in the evening. This is not the coast. There is no sea breeze, and unless you find shade, the afternoon belongs to the pool. A heated one, ideally.

All five sites below have one, and the word itself covers more ground than you might expect, running from a small eco-minded pool warmed only when the sun goes missing to a full aquatic park with slides turning all summer long. You just need to know which one you are booking.
I have ordered them from the liveliest to the quietest, so if silence is what you came for, start at the bottom and work up. The vineyards and the truffle orchards will still be there either way.
1. Domaine Le Sagittaire (Vinsobres)
This is the big one. Five stars, a large aquatic park with slides, and entertainment laid on for families from morning until night. Vinsobres sits up among the vineyards, and by August the place is busy. If your children measure a holiday by how many times they can get down a slide before lunch, then search no further.
The flip side is that it is a resort more than a campsite in the old sense. Everything is arranged and run for you, which is either the appeal or the reason to look elsewhere. Expect crowds in high summer and plenty of noise around the pool.
2. Flower Camping Les Truffières (Grignan)
Grignan is one of the prettiest villages in the Drôme, and this site sits about a kilometre from it, near enough to walk or cycle in for the market and the château. The pitches are shaded by the trees of what was once a truffle orchard, roughly a hundred of them, and that shade is worth more than it sounds once July arrives.
The pool is heated, though honestly it is warmed mainly when the sun is not doing the job, which is an eco-minded choice on the owners' part. Small children get a paddling pool of their own. Célina and Brendon run the place themselves, and guests rate it 4.4 out of 5. It opens on 6 April and stays open until 4 October in 2026. On a clear day you can pick out Mont Ventoux from the site, across the vineyards and the lavender.
3. Huttopia Dieulefit (Dieulefit)
Dieulefit is a small pottery town on the edge of the Baronnies. You sleep in equipped tents or wooden cabins rather than a mobile home, and there is a pond on site alongside the pools, one of which is heated. Nature activities run for children between five and twelve, a narrower age band than the big resorts tend to use, and it draws a calmer crowd as a result. If you want the pool plus a walk by water, without slides or a disco, this is your middle ground.

4. Le Couspeau (Yelloh! Village, Le Poët-Célard)
Le Poët-Célard is up in the hills, and the site is built on terraces, so almost everywhere you look you are looking out across the valley. It is a Yelloh! Village, five stars, with an outdoor pool and a heated covered one, and slides for good measure. The covered pool is the real point: on a grey morning you can still swim.
The trade-off is the setting. This is the most tucked-away site on the list, so you will want the car for bread, dinner and days out. A five-star view with a drive to your breakfast.
5. Les Terrasses Provençales (Venterol, near Nyons)
Venterol sits near Nyons, at the southern end of the Drôme Provençale, and this is the quietest place on the list. Four stars, built into a hillside, a heated pool, and a deliberate absence of slides and organised entertainment. It does not pretend to be a resort.
Spend the morning at a Provençal market in Nyons, come back, swim in peace, and let the afternoon go by. It is the sort of place where the hours simply pass. Southern, and unhurried.
